The largest fireworks display in the history of San Angelo will take place on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the Bill Aylor, Dr. Memorial RiverStage, 16 E. Avenue A, San Angelo, TX 76903.Here is drone footage of the inaugural A Star-Spangled Banner Fireworks and Concert. This year’s fireworks will be 3x bigger!

The fireworks will be punctuated by 1860s era cannons situated in Neff’s Park across the Concho River from the RiverStage. The cannons will accompany the San Angelo Community Band’s performance of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:20 p.m. and will last approximately 23 minutes. This year’s fireworks are orchestrated and designed by Greg Schaat, known in the industry as simply “Pyro.” Schaat is no stranger to San Angelo as he designed the San Angelo Rodeo pyro opening, Angelo State baseball game fireworks displays, and the Lake Nasworthy fireworks in the past. This is Chaat’s second year as the Star-Spangled Banner Fireworks and Concert “Pyro Man.” Last year, Schaat delivered a unique display using some of the newest and most colorful rockets.\

While the fireworks are the headlining act, the show will begin at 7 p.m. with traditional Mariachi music performed by Lake View High Schools renown and award-winning Mariachi Band.Following the Mariachis, Jazz Concho, a band organized by San Angelo musician and keyboardist John Talley will take the stage. The San Angelo Community Band follows. After the fireworks, the RiverStage will come alive with an interactive contemporary music show performing hit songs for all ages. We call it the After Party. This year’s Star-Spangled Banner organizers want to highlight the best San Angelo, as a designated “Music Friendly City” by the Governor, can offer and West Texas Funk was unanimously chosen. The band is based in our city but performs all over the state. Here is West Texas Funk performing at a wedding party a few years ago. Of course, the dress for our July 3 event is casual!

Admission to the RiverStage is free. However, there are no coolers and no alcoholic beverages allowed. The gates open at 12 noon so you can come early and stake a claim to a spot. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs.

The floor immediately in front of the stage will be the VIP area with 50 tables. Each table seats eight. VIPs will be served free hamburgers and hotdogs and receive samples from our beverage sponsors. In addition, the annual tradition called Sonny Cleere’s Ice Cream Party will take place on the VIP floor. Delicious homemade ice cream from the Nitro N7 Ice Cream truck will serve a variety of flavors. VIPs will receive free gifts from our sponsors as well.

Tables in the VIP area seat 8 people. Proceeds from table sales go towards making the fireworks bigger than this year for the following year. VIP tables are $500 each or $62.50 per person plus a small transaction fee for credit cards. To order a table online, select “8 tickets.” Tables are assigned closest to the stage at the time of purchase. So, the earlier you purchase a table, the closer to the stage your table will be assigned. This is the 3rd Annual A Star-Spangled Banner Fireworks & Concert.
