Maria de Jesus de Agreda, a 17th century cloistered nun, longed since her childhood to become a missionary in the New World. However, Maria never left Spain and was known in her homeland for her profilic writing, her 22 year-long correspondence with the Spanish monarch, Felipe IV, and extraordinary mystical experiences. Her mystical experiences include bilocation to the Americas, where she evangelized to the Native Americans. She is known in America for her inspiration to colonial missionaries and Native Americans alike. To this day, her writing, experiences, and legacy continue to inspire people around the globe. In present day Texas and New Mexico, love abounds for Maria, affectionately known as the Lady in Blue. The story of Maria’s life as well as the communities’ efforts to honor her influence has been beautifully brought to the big screen by Los Angeles producer, Victor Mancilla, Executive Director of Era Vision. Please join us to see how this epic journey of faith brought Christianity to the Southwest.
